ADE 4.5 doesn't save bookmarks, nor highlights

The title says it all and I can't find any documentation or previous discussions.  To be clear, I can open a book/file, make a highlight, close the book/file, and re-opening does not show the highlight (same happens with bookmarks).

Any ideas?
