ADE crashed, resulting in all my notes and annotations disappearing after restarting app

Bear with me here, because this will be a little detailed and not the nicest post.
I am a student, who once in a while, has to use ADE in order to open certain schoolwork and files. ADE is not too common in my school, and is reserved for bigger files, therefore I do not get much use out of it, only once or twice in an entire year. For the past few days, I have been working on this book, annotating and highlighting as I need the information for an assignment due tonight. At one point, the app became unresponsive randomly, (I should note, I have a MacBook Pro with the Monterey update). I had to force quit the app, and upon restarting it, I removed my expired files, just to clean the app up a little. When I opened the book I was working on, every single note and highlight disappeared. I restarted the app twice, and nothing.
I read the forums, but nothing was helpful. Then, I contacted live chat, where I was told unless I had a subscription, I could not be assisted any further. I was also told to come to this forum, and I did. If the forums helped me, I would not need to be contacting them through live chat. I was very confused as this is just a small thing I needed an answer/resolution for. Upon receiving no help whatsoever, I reached out to twitter, where I was told the same thing — without a subscription, there was nothing they can do. Then I called them, because time is of the essence here, and I just wasted two hours at this point. Guess what? After 20 minutes on the phone, I was told the same thing. The lady even asked a "technician", who said the same thing. Therefore, I came to the conclusion, that they COULD help me, but because I am not paying for their services, they chose not to. I begged for help, I have screenshots begging them to help me, as my grade and my time depended on this. A simple issue: how to retrieve my old notes back on this file or access deleted books/files, in case I probably removed it by accident (incredibly unlikely, but not impossible). I couldn't even get an answer.
So please, someone, help me out here. I'm so angry and so disappointed. I have tried everything the forums told me to try, but nothing is working. My assignment is due tonight and I've been working tirelessly on this file. 30 pages of notes, gone, just like that.
P.S- since Adobe's team thought forums would help resolve my issue, I decided to post how many times I looked for a resolution before reaching out three times. Joke of a customer service team, joke of a company.
