ADE does not recognize Kobo Ereader

I have reset (including factory reset) my kobo (wifi);  I have successfully used it for 5 years. The date is correct.

I choose manage library and it does show up as a device under computer but ADE and KOBO do no recognize it as an ereader.

I am unable to load books.  Any suggestions.  I have tried everything the KOBO help has suggested.
