ADE Downloading Books Then Freezing

I recently purchased a new HP Pavilion Windows 11 Home desktop. I downloaded the ADE 4.5 software. 

I am able to download the books, which are in the .acsm file format. However, once I download the books, I cannot open them, the menu on ADE does not work at all, and I can't even close the software unless I use Task Manager to end the task. After using Task Manager, I reopen the ADE software but the books do not show in the Library, so I have to redownload them but then the ADE software freezes again.

I have taken the following steps:

*Deauthorized the ADE from my previous Windows 10 computer and authorized my  Windows 11 computer with Adobe ID.

*Uninstalled and reinstalled the ADE software four times

*Checked to ensure that ADE is the default app for .acsm files

I have been trying to read Freading books from my library, but I am at a loss at what to do. Can someone help me with this issue?
