ADE error E_ADAPT_IO ActivationServiceInfo Error%20#2032

I appearantly need ADE in order to read ebooks I borrow at my local library. On installing I get this:

E_ADAPT_IO ActivationServiceInfo Error%20#2032

Only old postst give a solution that does not work.

Mac Pro Server 2012 with High Sierra (last one that works on this machine).

Already tried it with the firewall disabled..
