ADE installs all right on laptop XP SP3 but doesn't launch.

After downloading the ADE installer 4.0 on my laptop running on XP SP3 (featuring plenty of power), I installed the utility without a hitch. However, when launching the application... zilch. Some activity, then nothing. Please note that I installed the same on my desktop PC running on Windows 7 §'-bit, and everything works fine. So, what do I have got to do to make ADE work on my machine?
