ADE Not Responding, Can not transer ebooks/epubs to Kobo, error message

For the past 5 months I have been having issues using ADE with my Kobo ereader.  In the past month I redownloaded ADE but with no success I keep getting "Not responding" error.  If I do finally get the ebook to transer from the library onto ADE, then I cannot transfer it onto my Kobo device, or if that actully works then the next problem is I cannot open the ebook to read on my Kobo.  I am gettig more and more frustrated and I have not found any forums to help with this problem.  Is it ADE or is it my Kobo??
