ADE says 'Error! Check Activation'

My laptop and Kobo are both authorised correctly to my email address. I have downloaded an acsm file from a UK elibrary, which is where I normally reside. I am now in the USA. The download was successful and when I click on the file ADE opens but gives the message above.
