ADE unresponsive

I have a new laptop and when i open ADE it goes unresponsive as soon as I touch anywhere on the screen.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail, took it back to the computer shop that set up my new laptop: nothing doing.

Has anyone else encountered that problem?
