Adobe and Library book issue

I have tried everything I can find on the internet to fix the issue.  

The issue:  I borrow a book from the library.  I download it, but ADE will not open the book.  If I can actually get the book into ADE the program freezes.  I reopen and the book is gone.  Anyone know what is going on with ADE?  Or a better way to get library books onto my Kobo?

TIA for any tips/advice/help.

    So, I am lucky.  I was playing around on the eReader last night and figured out it has overdrive on it.   I do not need ADE and the many problems that comes with it.   Books from the library now automatically show up on my ereader, no more transferring!
