Adobe Digital Autograph editions on iPad

I have recently installed Adobe Digital Editions app on my iPad and authorised the iPad.

i tried to open a library book I had downloaded using ADE on my desktop with Windows 7.

i copied the pub file to Dropbox on my desktop and then on my iPad I exported it it and opened it in ADE (a new icon had been added).

The book was now shown in ADE on the iPad.

However, there seemed to be no way to open and read it.

was I doing this correctly?

Advice appreciated.
