Adobe digital edition 4.5 it's stocks, when I load down the book

Hi
Whenever I download a book from the library on my Mac, the program hangs. I have to quit immediately, but the book is still not downloaded correctly. 
Please help, I would like to have new books on my ebook.

It doesn't matter what system you have or the e-reader they are all having problems since no communication problems.
