Adobe Digital Edition cannot open .epub with "%3A" in the file name

We've had a report from one of our customers that .epub files with "%3A" in the title such as the epub book available here:

The Handbook of Salutogenesis - Springer

The customer receives the error "The filename would be too long", however a file in the same directory with the same number of characters is able to open.
