I had problems opening my Adobe Digital Edition 4.5 and read books on the last 3 days, so I read that I have to desinstall and reinstall Adobe Digital Edition on my PC, wich I did, but it doesn't work, the programm now just dont open anymore.

Could you please help me??  I am in the middle of my master degree and need to be able to have acces to the book I had bought.

Thank you.

I've been tackling this problem for a few months now.  Very frustrating.  I finally got Digital Editions 4.5.11 to work on my Windows 10 computer today.  Here is the method I used:

1. de-authorise Adobe Digital Editions - Open Digital Editions, ctrl+shift+d to de-authorise installation

2. close the application

3. find Adobe Digital Editions application file in File Explorer - mine was in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe

4. open Adobe Digital Editions folder and use 'uninstall'

5. find all other copies of ADE_4.5_Installer.exe or ADE_3.0_Installer.exe on computer hard drive and delete

6. download ADE_4.5_Installer.exe from https://www.adobe.com/au/solutions/ebook/digital-editions/download.html

7. install in folder C:\Program Files (x86) NOT C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe

8. copy  .acsm file for book borrowed through ProQuest to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe Digital Editions 4.5 and C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe Digital Editions 4.5\resources

9. authorise freshly installed Adobe Digital Editions application

10. open Digital Editions

11. File>Add to Library> select .acsm file from Digital Editions 4.5 folder or Digital Editions 4.5\resources folder

12. Book should now open and Digital Editions 4.5 should work properly.

**edit** - I wrote the above for the librarian at my uni. My uni library uses ProQuest for downloading .acsm (Digital Editions ebook) files.  You may get your Digital Editions e-book .acsm files from 'wherever' you usually get them - shouldn't make a difference.
