Adobe Digital Editions 4.5

I purchased an eBook back in 2016 which can only be read using Adobe Digital Editions. I opened it today only to find that the book is "missing". The thumbnail is there, but it has "missing" at the top. I use a Mac. Has anyone encountered this issue? If so, how did you resolve the issue? Thanks.
