Adobe Digital Editions ID already in use?

I am attempting to authenticate a new installation of Adobe Digital Editions but get error message that my ID is already used on another computer. I had to rebuild my laptop because windows crashed. My current ID is my email address. Do I need a new ID? Is there a work around?

Background:

  • I can log in using my ID and password on the Adobe site so I know it is accurate.
  • Windows10 crashed and I successfully rebuilt with clean install.
  • Installed Adobe Digital Editions 4.5
  • Exact error message: "You can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile device. Please try again."
