ADOBE DIGITAL EDITIONS NOT OPENING

Hi, I successfully downloaded ADE and used it for ebook reading until two weeks ago.  Unfortunately I can no longer download ebooks as I get an error message 'failure to connect to portal service.  Hopeful someone can help.
