Adobe Digital Editions not working at all on Mac

It appears that since upgrading to Mac OS Monterey (and a few times prior to this as well), ADE is completely broken, and not truly authorising my e-reader (Kobo Glo HD). Even though the e-reader is authorised according to ADE and the e-reader itself, and being able to open books within ADE on the mac, whenever I try and open the actual book on my e-reader, it says that the device isn't authorised.

 

ADE 4.5 is the only version which appears to work with Monterey, with version 3.0 not supported (and a link for it being quite difficult to find). All other options have been exhausted, including deleting and reinstalling, de- and re-authorising, and more. This seems to be a common problem for many others, which is an Adobe issue, not a Kobo or Apple issue.

I am having the same problem, but mine just takes forever in authorizing and then tells me that it took too long and try again later...

3.0 doesnt open (Monterey), tried different tricks but no idea what next. Adobe is no help at all (they said that customer service doesnt supported ADE)

I too am unable to authorize my MAC with Adobe Digital Editions.  There is definitely something wrong with this program. My error message is:  YOU CAN ONLY AUTHORIZE THIS COMPUTER WITH AN ADOBE ID THAT HASN'T BEEN PREVIOUSLY USED TO AUTHORIZE ANY OTHER COMPUTER OR MOBILE DEVICES.  PLEASE TRY AGAIN.  

 

This makes absolutely no sense to me.  Adobe needs to fix this!
