Adobe Digital Editions Wont Import Files

Question

I'm trying to add new eBooks to my ADE application on my Windows PC but I keep getting errors that it cannot (or will not) open the files. I've reinstalled and re-logged into the software but nothing seeems to work. Here are some screenshots of the problem. Any information on how to rectify this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.
