ADOBE does it again - ADE 4.5 not ready for prime time!

ADE 4,? was working fine, with a hundred books all in neat categories, and cross-categories, and then i make the mistake of assenting to "upgrade to version 4.5"

Day One: The installation went fine and i was able to download books from my local library, but several time it crashed after downloading, or wouldn't download a book at all.

Day Two: Now, finally, i open ADE and all my books are gone, no categories, and it won;t download or connect to any of my library servers anymore.

It won't open the books that are downloaded, saying they are already in the library, even though i've already deleted the manifest.xml for each of them.

Once again, ADOBE messes with us guinea-pigs.!

    Try this:

    Close Adobe Digital Editions.

Click the Start button, and then click on the 'Documents' link on the right-hand side of the Start menu. Then, open the 'My Digital Editions' folder. Inside, find the 'restore' folder and rename it to something else (like 'restore.bad').

At this point, start Adobe Digital Editions and try to use an .acsm file to fulfill an eBook request.

    thanks for the reply, Nanaky!

no 'restore' folder anywhere on my machine, but extrapolating from your idea, i deleted EVERYTHING, in all folders inside Digital Editions.

I started Digital Editions 4.5 and my library books then were listed, but each had to be Re-downloaded from the library, and i lost all my categories and all the categorization, as well as all the OTHER (non-loaned) books i had in Digital Editions.

    thanks again

i wish ADOBE would just tell us what does or doesn't work
