Adobe Editions 3.0 Authorization Activation Server Error code_E_ADEPT_SIGNIN_CONNECTION_EXCEPTION

Hello,

I am trying to authorize my MacBook to gain access to a textbook for university. I have been following a video tutorial provided by the university, and all was going well until I reached this error. Please help! As this is time sensitive and I will fall behind in the course if I can't make this work somehow. I have checked my wi-fi connection, double checked that my password/email combo is correct, and emailed the university support with no response. I am growing frustrated and desperate.
