Adobe freezes on loading the library

Adobe freezes on loading the library.   For hours.  I have tried completely uninstalling it and reinstalling it with no luck.  I have also uninstalled and tried previous versions.  As it is, the Adobe program will not progress past loading library and I have not been able to find a solution to the problem.  For the time being I have to switch to Kindle and other programs so I can continue my job and studies.  The delay on accessing ASCM's that only Adobe can open is detrimental to progress.  Is there any solution to this issue?
