Adobe has stopped supporting Adobe Digital Editions. Really?

My ADE 4.5.11.187303 version stopped working. I couldn't download epub ebooks. Live support was sympathetic but said Adobe was no longer supporting ADE and, additionally, he couldn't refer me to an old, stable download. Very disappointing.
