I cannot open ebooks with adobe digital editions 4.5.

I contacted Adobe and the onely thing they say is: go to the forum

But I have seen that more people have this problem and I have not found the solution

I think it is a shame that Adobe does not help

I may have found a fix for those of you who could no longer get library books on your kobo.

You need to go to your preferences folder and trash 2 files:

com.adobe.DigitalEditions.plist and Adobe PDF ePub DRM Removal.plist

I cannot believe it didn't occur to me to try this a year ago...

Yes, Adobe is still sending people to post of the forum. This DRM/ADE 4.5/Kobo/Library books issue has been ongoing since 2014.

Adobe is the absolute worst. I am in the same boat, like everyone else. The one thing that worked for me for a while -- using an older version of ADE -- is no longer an option, now that Mac has updated to Catalina. So frustrating.
