Authorization Error for bad device key

When I attempt to authorize my Adobe ID on Adobe Digital Editions 4.5, I receive this error:

  • E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY_OR_PKCS12.

I followed the advice on a different forum about going to the keychain access on my MAC, but there is not an option for me to allow access to all applications. It looks like this

        quit Adobe Digital Editions.

        Navigate to /Users/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

        If you are using 10.7, see https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html

        Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.

    This did not work for me unfortunately. It still came up with the same error.
