Best way to open a .epub file

I have Adobe Creative Suite 6 on a new Windows 10 PC. Did not realize that Acrobat X could not open .epub files. Can the Acrobat DC reader open .epub files?

InDesign CS6 can export but not import .epub. Most ebooks I have purchased have been in PDF format. The EPUB I need to open is a simple free user guide for some software I'm considering. Is Adobe Digital Editions the easiest way to open this? Not concerned with authorizing the document on which computer because it's a free unrestricted document. Want to keep the PC as free from extraneous programs as possible.
