Book Download failure in Digital Editions

After buying book from KOBO UK, it appeared to download OK but I couldn't open it, Erroe message' Cant Open book(title) ' Errors encountered in the item' Kobo can't help. I have reinstalled Digital Editions v 4.5.11 in desktop with Windows 8.1

To add to my last post, I have just found that the books are on the computer. They can be opened by Reader for PC, but not by Adobe DE. Can anyone suggest how I might get them open in DE or in Calibre?
