Book keeps getting deleted

I bought a book somewhere else, where they said I should use Adobe Digital Edition 4.5 to read it. However, everytime I close the app the book gets deleted... all my highlights are now gone and other notations I've made. When I downloade the book again through the file which I bought it is as if I never had any books in the app.

I contacted customer support, but they were little help and directed me here
