Book will not finish downloading

When the book opens it says downloading the green line runs all the way across but then it just sit and spins and eventually says Adobe Digital Editions is not responding.  When you just open the Digital Editions without trying to download it shows multiple copies in the library but it will not copy to my ereader. I have cleared browser history deleted all downloaded files and emptied the trash can and restarted my computer. Other ideas?
