books won't stay deleted...return in hordes, and can't be read on my Nook

I delete the book from Adobe, my Nook and my computer files; it reappears in multiples, in Adobe and my computer files.  I've tried everything, deleting and re-downloading from my local library; redownloading Adobe Editions; de-authorizing and reauthorizing.  It seemed to be a Nook problem to begin with:  error dialog about the book being returned.  Not.  Well, not at that time anyway.  I can read the book on my computer from my Nook, but not the Nook itself (yes, I've contacted B&N.  They seemed dumber than I!!!!!)

My computer is a mess (old windows system)...on my shopping list.  Meanwhile...
