Can I add books to the bookshelves?

Though I have some e-books, I prefer reading REAL books.  How can I move downloaded e-books to other shelves like recently read or not read.
I don't understand how the bookshelves are managed.  We readers should have the ability to change the book status if we need. 
If there is already information somewhere on how to do this, I haven't been able to find it.
