Can't access epubs with Digital Editions

I have the Adobe Digital Editions application downloaded in order to read digital versions of scripts I've purchased, but I can't access the scripts. I'm trying to authorize my laptop, but I'm receiving a notification telling me that I can't use an Adobe ID that has already been used to authorize another device. My laptop is the only device for which I've ever used this Adobe ID, so I'm not sure why it's not working. My only guess is that I recently had an issue with my laptop for which the only solution was to wipe the entire hard drive, which deleted the Digital Editions app and (I'm assuming) also erased the authorization somehow. Can anyone help me sort this out?
