can't access kobo?

When I plug my Kobo in and open ADE, the Kobo shows "Connected and charged" and won't respond to the touch screen. ADE shows my Kobo as a device, but I can't access the Kobo to sync or manage files properrly. Meanwhile Windows 7 is asking me for autoplay options for pictures in my Kobo.

What am I doing wrong? I used to access the Kobo from ADE why not now?
