Can't access library

I downloaded digital editions 4.0.  Since then, I can't access my books that I previously downloaded.  I have a couple of email accounts and have tried by unauthorizing and reauthorizing with each one to no avail.  The books show up, but I can't do anything with them.

Also, when I download a new book, the .ascm comes into my computer....I'll click  on it and Adobe opens, starts to fulfill then tells me it can't download.
