Can't authorize my Kobo e-reader in Adobe Digital Editions

I have connected and authorized my laptop to Adobe Digital Editions. However within Adobe Digital Editions I see no button to authorize my Kobo e-reader. 
I was able to get an e-book from the laptop to the Kobo e-reader but it won't open because it is not authorized.
What can I do?
