Can't use Adobe ID to register PC in ADE

I have an adobe ID which works fine to login to my profile on ADOBE.COM. But I cannot use this to register my ADE to download epub books.

Adobe support chat told me

• the account isn't associated with ADE
• the account is having some problems
• to generate a second account with same email address (which is impossible)
• the email address for the purchase and the adobe ID have to match, but could explain why
• has send me to this forum
• has wasted my time

So anybody an idea how I can get me book?
