cannot activate Digital Editions 4.5 following upgrade. Windows 10 platform on PC. Digital Editions will open, but will not download ebooks.

Upgraded to ADE 4.5, will open manually but will not open automatically when downloading a book. I get an activation message. When I try to activate, I get an error message the activation cannot occur due to activation center issue. States it is an internal problem? I need this for college!
