Cannot authorize computer

I recently purchased an ebook version of a textbook. I downloaded the ebook and it opened Adobe Digital Editions. The sign in pop-up asked for the ebook Vendor (I chose Adobe ID), my Adobe ID, and my password. When I clicked Authorize, another pop-up came up reading "Digital Editions encounter an error on the activation server."

How can I fix this so I can read my textbook?
