Copy files to SD card

Can I use ADE to copy files to an SD card for use in a Pandigital Novel 7" ereader?  My internal memory is not large enough to hold all of my files and I use an external 4 GB SD card to hold them.  The Pandigital only has Android 2.0 since that's the point the company went out of business.  I am going to try using Aldiko as a reading app but have been told that I need to use ADE to transfer files or the app won't recognize them.
