copying and pasting in Adobe Digital Editions

I am trying to read a book purchased using adobe digital editions.

I am having difficulties as I find the process slow and it even quits on my numerous times.

The notes, bookmarks and highlights I did were lost in a quit during one of the not responding phases.  To change this I tried to copy and paste important information and that does not seem to be allowed either.

I am looking for any suggestions to try and make this process easier so I can actually read the book within the program or another program and take proper notes.

My current idea is just to use pad and paper for the digital editions textbook.
