dark mode Android

Is there an option for dark mode / night view in the andoid app? If so, how to activate it, as of April 2020? None of the historical posts that I see suggesting it exists describe any mechanisms for turning it on that are visible in my (up-to-date according to Google Play) app. (Running on Andoid 9)
