DE quits when transferring ebook

I am trying to transfer an ebook from ADE to my Kobo. When I drag and drop the book, ADE suddenly quits and a window comes up with specifications to auto send to Apple. I am running a MacBook Pro OSX 10.9.5 and ADE 4.0. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing and still get the same error.
