Deauthorizing/Reauthorizing

Hello! 

I have spent the evening trying to get my kobo clara hd to work with epubs from the library. I downloaded Adobe Digital Editions, and followed the help pages to unauthorize and reauthorize as it had been giving me an error message. I could then get the epub to ADE, and read it there. But, I could not get it to go to my reader. SO, I tried unauthorizing, but when I went to reauthorize, it told me I couldn't use that Adobe ID anymore. I tried deleting and reinstalling ADE, but it didn't make a difference. Now, my reader is not authorized with ADE, nor is my computer. How do I fix this?
