digital editions keeps giving error messages and closing in Windows8.1

when I try to minimize Adobe Digital Editions the programs states an error has occurred and shuts down.

When I try to copy more than one library epub book at a time, the books show as black on the kobo screen and will not open.

I reformatted my machine and reinstalled the program and am still having problems.
