Digital editions on Win crashes when attempting to quickly highlight text in a book after DE startup

Hi, has anyone else encounterd the problem where DE editions hangs (is unresponsive) for a few seconds then crashes (closes spontaneously) when trying to highlight text?

 

This occurs mostly when attempting it immeditely after I open a file in DE. If I wait a minute or so it is less likely.

 

This occurs with the "Getting Started with Adobe Digital Editions 4.5" epub file.

 

EDIT: I have done some more testing. This doesn't occur if I bring up the right click menu showing highlight, then close it! e.g. the second time I bring up the right click menu I can select highlight and it works OK.

I had the same issue but I found a way to fix it! When you are in your Library instead of double clicking on the book you want to read open the book by right clicking on it and selecting the "read" option. When I open books like this I am able to highligh anything without it crashing or freezing.

1. I am so frustraded. ADE crashed while marking text, all markings lost. I hate this sotware.

2. I rund 4.5 on OneDrive. But on my other computer markings are not syncted. 

So frustrating ... I never buy a digital book for this crap of software ever again.

I updated Adobe Digital Edition to 4.5.11. No Crashes anymore but marking text takes 3 Seconds every time.....

I'm having the same problem. Every time I want to highlight, it crashes. I have tried running it as an admin. It makes no difference.

Try to start ADE with right click and run as admin?

Robert,

 

I'm glad you posted your issue.  I'm having the same (or a similiar) issue.  At times I will be able to highlight with no problem, and then I will go to highlight, and I will experience a brief, temporary lag in my system, and then Adobe DE will close.  I often then lose all of my previous highlights when this happens -- a huge bummer.

I am having the same issue as Ryan,

Sometimes I can highlight, then sometimes when I try to right-click a selection to highlight it, the system will stutter a bit, and then ADE will close, and I will lose all my prior highlights.

 

Anyone know how to fix this?
