Digital editions will not open acsm files -- states file not supported or damaged; tried downloading several different e-books, but same problem; worked on 10/01/15, but not since. Anyone have a solution?

I found the answer by accident -- change the program Windows uses by default by typing in:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default -- this should bring up two programs:  Digital Editions and Adobe Reader -- change from Adobe Reader to Digital Editions -- voila!  Now .acsm files will associate with Digital Editions and open. epub documents such as e-books from the library.
