Does anyone know how to prevent ade 4.0 from crashing?

I just downloaded ADE and imported a .ascm file into it. When I try to click on the file ADE crashed.

This is the error message I get:

"Adobe Digital Editions quit unexpectedly"
I am using a MacBookAir6,2

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling ADE but it still won't work. Please help!
