Download Kafka on ADE?

Has anybody else come across the kafkaesque scenario trying to download ADE?

To access books from the local librarly they ask for an ADE download. On downloading the .dmg file to my mac book pro the Adobe download assistant opens up asking for my ID and password. As soon as I have entered both I am greeted with my name on the top right of the Adobe download assistant screen, but any reference to the ADE has dissapeared, and seemingly no installation has happened as the acsm files from the library just sit in the download box.

I have tried reinstalling the .dmg again, downloading it again, and again, and again, and...you get the picture.

Any help would be welcome.

Cheers

Markus

I don't have a mac so can't check this, but try the instructions at http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/cant-install-digital-editions.html

There seems to be a manual installation there that avoids Adobe download assistant.

The download there is for a slightly older 1.7.2 version of ADE, not the most recent 2.0.

The older version is much more reliable than the new one in various ways.

Moving this discussion to the Adobe Digital Editions forum.

Adobe Digital Editions should not be using the Adobe Download Assistant.  Can you please try downloading Adobe Digital Editions from http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions/download.html.
