downloaded overdrive books do not appear in ADE 3.0

After working for years, downloaded epub books no longer appear in ADE 3.0  We have uninstalled and reinstalled ADE and it didn't help.  The overdrive account is fine because on another PC also running windows 10, the downloading works fine with the same edition of ADE working.  We know the problem started several months ago but can't pinpoint what changed on our PC.  Does anyone have suggestions? We are perplexed!

    Try this:
    Closed Digital Edition.

    Rename the Folder My digital Edition in My Digital Edition.old.

    Then start Digital Edition.

    And try to download again.

    The window appears with the downloading green bar but nothing happens when I click on the book.  Also when ADE opens, the usual selections on the left under Bookshelf are not there.  It is blank and stays blank.

    Try this:
    Closed Digital Edition.

    Rename the Folder My digital Edition in My Digital Edition.old.

    Then start Digital Edition.

    And try to download again.

    What happens when you try to open a download file in Digital Edition over File > Add to Library?
