Downloading eBook but Acrobat Pro opens, not Digital Editions

I'm trying to open a digital book I purchased and every time I click the download link Acrobat Pro opens and has a message that says "Acrobat could not open [filename] either becasue it is not a supported file typ or becasue the file has been dmamged..."  I am using Google Chrome and I have tunred off the automatic file assignment feature in Setting/Downloads.
